India, a marvel of modern times, emerged as an independent nation on 15th August 1947, breaking free from centuries of foreign rule. However, this newfound freedom was shadowed by the dismemberment of mother India, with the threat of further partition looming.

Thereafter, the journey towards unity persisted with landmark events in post-independent India with integration of various other territories like French transfer of Pondicherry and its territories to India followed by liberation of Goa from Portuguese control through Operation Vijay, making it a centrally administered Union Territory. 

Sardar Patel's unifying legacy  is symbolized by the 'Statue of Unity' a 182-meter statue, world’s tallest, on the banks of Narmada River in Kevadia, Gujarat. It stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to national unity and the cohesive India we cherish today.
