Overview

The scheme aims to strengthen India’s medical device industry by supporting manufacturing, skills, clinical studies, and infrastructure over 2024–25 to 2026–27. It seeks to reduce import dependency while leveraging India’s position among the top 20 global medical device markets.

  • Purpose: To boost India's medical device industry
  • Strategy: Scheme supports manufacturing, skill development, clinical studies, and infrastructure development, reducing import dependency etc.
  • Tenure: 3 years (FY2024-25 to FY 2026-27) 
  • NOTE: India is the fourth largest medical devices market in Asia after Japan, China, and South Korea and among the top 20 global medical devices markets in the world
