National Sports Governance (National Sports Board) Rules, 2026
- Sports Board Composition: Chairperson and two Members appointed by the Central Government based on recommendations of a Search-cum-Selection Committee.
- Term of Office: 3 years or until attaining 65 years of age, whichever comes first.
- Eligible for reappointment for one additional term.
- Powers and Functions of the Board
- Maintaining records of the National Sports Election Panel and National Sports Bodies.
- Frame model guidelines for sports governance and committee functioning in National Sports Bodies.
- Recommending the adoption of international covenants and best practices to National Sports Bodies and their affiliates.
- Audit: The Comptroller and Auditor General of India is empowered to audit the accounts of the Board.
National Sports Governance (National Sports Tribunal) Rules, 2026
- Chairperson & Members
- Tenure: Chairperson serves for 5 years or till 70 years of age and Members serve for 5 years or till 67 years.
- Reappointment: Both Chairperson and Members can be re-appointed for one more term.
- Powers of the Tribunal
- General Powers: Can issue orders to ensure justice and prevent misuse of process.
- Interim Orders: Can grant stay orders or injunctions after hearing concerned parties.
- Enforcement: Tribunal orders are enforceable like civil court decrees and become final after appeal period ends.
- Techno-Legal Measures
- Digital Portal: Government may create a dedicated online portal for Tribunal functioning.
- Online Functions: Portal will handle filing of disputes, notices, documents, and communication of orders.
- Digital Orders: Tribunal orders will be digitally signed and shared electronically.
