Updated: 17 Oct 2025
Ministry: Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution

The scheme enables nationwide portability of ration cards under the NFSA, allowing beneficiaries to access food grains across states. Previously called IM-PDS, it streamlines the public distribution system for greater flexibility and convenience.

  • Type: Central Sector Scheme

  • Aim: To implement nation-wide portability of the ration cards issued by the States/UTs under the NFSA.
  • The scheme was earlier known as Integrated Management of Public Distribution System (IM-PDS).
  • NFSA beneficiaries, particularly migrant beneficiaries, can lift their entitled foodgrains from any ePoS (electronic Point of Sale) enabled Fair Price Shop (FPS) in the country.
  • Benefits could be availed though biometric/Aadhaar authentication using their same/existing ration card issued under NFSA.
