Overview

The scheme aims to conserve wildlife habitats, protect key species, and maintain ecological balance. It provides financial assistance to States/UTs for protection, conservation, and recovery of critically endangered species.

  • Type: Centrally Sponsored Scheme
  • Purpose: To conserve and develop wildlife habitats, protect keystone species and promote ecological balance through technological interventions and community engagement.
  • Financial assistance: Assistance is provided to State/UT Governments for protection and conservation of wildlife and its habitats in Protected Areas (PAs) as well as outside PAs and also for the recovery programmes of the critically endangered species.
Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats program components for 15th Finance Commission cycle 2021-26: support to protected areas, protection of wildlife outside protected areas and human-wildlife conflict mitigation, and recovery programs for critically endangered species.
