Integration of Health Portals by NHM
The National Health Mission (NHM) is initiating the integration of multiple health portals to enhance timely data analysis. This was announced during the National Summit on Good and Replicable Practices and Innovation in Public Healthcare System.
Key Initiatives
- The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is developing a model for integrating various health portals, including the Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) portal.
- Four regional conferences were organized in FY 2024-25 to focus on operationalization and delivery of twelve service packages at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs).
- The NHM aims for National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) and Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) certifications for public health facilities.
Current Public Health Facilities
- India has 200,988 public health facilities including district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and sub-centres.
- Approximately 30,000 facilities have NQAS certification, and 95% have been assessed according to IPHS.
National Summit & Health Initiatives
The National Summit serves as a platform to document and share best practices in public health across states and Union Territories (UTs).
- 165 entries were submitted for oral presentation after thorough review.
- Focus areas include capacity building, Jan Bhagidari, and optimal resource utilization.
100-Day Intensified Anti-TB Programme
Health Minister J P Nadda extended the 100-day intensified anti-TB programme to cover 455 districts, initially targeting 347 high-focus districts.
- The programme has detected around 500,000 new TB patients.
- All aspirational districts and blocks are included in the effort to eliminate TB by 2025.
- India tops the list of 30 high-burden TB countries, accounting for 26% of the global TB burden, with 2.55 million TB patients in 2023.
- India aims to achieve TB elimination by 2025, ahead of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) target.
