Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) - Phase II
The Union Cabinet has sanctioned the second phase of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP-II), aimed at the holistic development of villages situated along India's international borders.
- Central Sector Scheme:
- VVP-II is designated as a central sector scheme, with 100% funding provided by the Central Government.
- It aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 for ensuring safe, secure, and vibrant land borders.
- Objective and Impact:
- The programme is pivotal in transforming border villages into growth and development hubs.
- It aims to improve living conditions, provide adequate livelihood opportunities, and ensure prosperous and secure borders.
- Assists in controlling trans-border crime and integrating the border population, making them integral to national security as the 'eyes and ears' of border guard forces.
- Financial Outlay:
- The total financial allocation for VVP-II is Rs 6,839 crore.
- The programme will be operational till the year 2028-29.
