Electronic Surveillance System Deployment on India-Pakistan Border
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced the deployment of an electronic surveillance system along the India-Pakistan border to enhance security and counter the increased transborder movement of militants.
- The system aims to help security forces gather information on enemy activities and detect cross-border tunnels.
- It consists of two models and is expected to be implemented fully in three to four years.
- Following the India-Pakistan border, the surveillance system will also be installed along the India-Bangladesh border.
Ground Situation Assessment and Technological Innovations
Amit Shah visited the BSF’s forward “Vinay Post’’ in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district to assess the situation. Shah emphasized the dedication of BSF personnel in diverse climatic conditions.
- The Home Minister highlighted the ongoing technological innovations for detecting and destroying cross-border tunnels.
- Shah reiterated the government's commitment to support the BSF and mentioned that 26 experiments are underway to enhance security measures.

During his visit, Shah conducted a high-level meeting with key officials including L-G Governor Manoj Sinha, and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh.

Security Situation and Amarnath Yatra
The International Border in Kathua has seen increased militant activity. Security forces are actively conducting search operations to intercept infiltrating militants.
- Recent operations led to encounters with militants, resulting in casualties on both sides.
- Shah's visit aligns with preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and PM Modi's scheduled flagging off of the train between Katra and Srinagar.
