Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY)

The Union cabinet has approved the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), aimed at developing 100 agricultural districts through the convergence of schemes across various ministries.

Key Features

  • Budget: The scheme has an outlay of ₹24,000 crore per year. 
  • Duration: It will be implemented over six years, starting from the current financial year. 
  • Implementation Strategy:
    • A master plan will be created for each district covering agriculture and allied activities.
    • Plans will be prepared by District Dhan Dhaanya Samiti headed by the Collector.
    • Aligned with national goals: crop diversification, water and soil health conservation, self-sufficiency, expansion of natural and organic farming.

Implementation and Monitoring

  • Plans will be based on extensive consultations, considering cropping patterns and agro-climatic conditions.
  • Committees will exist at district, state, and national levels for effective implementation.
  • Central Nodal Officers will be appointed for field visits, review, and monitoring.
  • Each district will collaborate with central and state agriculture universities as technical partners.

Selection Criteria for Districts

  • 100 districts will be selected based on: 
    • Low productivity
    • Moderate crop intensity
    • Below-average credit parameters
  • At least one district from each state will be included.
