Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) Flight Tests
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the maiden flight tests of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) off the Odisha coast. This milestone is part of Mission Sudarshan Chakra, aimed at establishing a nationwide security shield by 2035.
Components and Features of IADWS
- The IADWS is a multi-layered air defence system comprising:
- Indigenous Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missiles (QRSAM)
- Advanced Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles
- High-power laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW)
- Designed to offer multiple layers of protection by integrating:
- Surveillance systems
- Cybersecurity measures
- Air defence systems
- Targets include long-range missiles, aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

- Collaboration expected between defence research organisations and the private sector.

- Indian Air Force’s Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS)
