Transformational Roadmap for the Indian Army

Chief of Army Staff outlined a strategic plan to transform the Indian Army into an integrated, future-ready force by 2047 during the 'Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025'. This initiative aligns with the national vision of Viksit Bharat and the government's push for technological advancement.

Three-Phase Transformation Plan

  • Phase 1 (until 2032):
    • Focuses on a "decade of transformation".
    • Aims to accelerate transitions in capability development, force structure, and operational readiness.
  • Phase 2 (until 2037):
    • Focuses on consolidating gains achieved during the first phase.
  • Phase 3 (until 2047):
    • Envisions a leap towards a fully integrated force design for next-generation warfare.

Four Springboards for Military Evolution

  • Self-reliance (Atma Nirbharta):
    • Empowerment through indigenization in defense manufacturing, space capability, and technology absorption.
  • Anusandhan (Innovation):
    • Shift from experimentation to enterprise-level impact in AI, cyber, quantum, and autonomous systems.
  • Adaptation (Anukulan):
    • Adapting and reforming the larger ecosystem.
  • Integration (Ekikaran):
    • Deeper military-civil fusion, promoting synergy among academia, industry, and armed forces.

Global Security Landscape and Guidance

General emphasizes navigating turbulent global security shifts from Cold War bipolarity to a conflict-heavy order using 5S framework:

  • Samman: Respect
  • Samvad: Dialogue
  • Sayog: Cooperation
  • Samridhi: Prosperity
  • Suraksha: Security

This framework is crucial for steering India towards a secure and prosperous Viksit Bharat during the Amrit Kal.
