India's Rapid Growth in Recognised Startups

India has achieved a significant milestone in its entrepreneurial landscape, now hosting over 2 lakh government-recognised startups. This surge is marked by the recognition of over 44,000 entities in the current year alone, the highest annual figure since the inception of the Startup India initiative.

Key Highlights

  • Women Leadership:
Nearly 48% of these startups have at least one woman serving as a director or partner. This demonstrates a positive trend towards gender inclusivity in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Job Creation:
The recognised startups have contributed significantly to employment, generating over 21 lakh direct jobs.
  • Financial Support and Investment:
    • Fund of Funds for Startups Scheme:
Above ₹25,320 crore has been invested in over 1,350 startups through Alternative Investment Funds.
    • Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups:
More than ₹775 crore has been granted to support startup ventures.
    • Startup India Seed Fund Scheme:
Over ₹585 crore was approved for more than 3,200 startup applications by incubators.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized that as the country prepares to enter a new year, the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship will be pivotal in driving growth, creating opportunities, and fostering prosperity for all.
