Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) Approvals

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister, has approved capital acquisition proposals worth approximately ₹79,000 crore for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Indian Army Acquisitions

  • Loiter Munition Systems: Enables precision strikes against tactical targets.
  • Low Level Light Weight Radars: Enhances detection and tracking of small, low-flying unmanned aerial systems.
  • Long Range Guided Rocket Ammunition for Pinaka MRLS: Improves range and accuracy for engaging high-value targets.
  • Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System (IDD&IS) Mk-II: With enhanced range, it strengthens protection of vital assets in tactical and hinterland areas.

Indian Navy Acquisitions

  • Bollard Pull (BP) Tugs: Assists naval ships and submarines during berthing, unberthing, and manoeuvring in harbours.
  • High Frequency Software Defined Radio (HF SDR) Manpack systems: Enhances long-range secure communications.
  • High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS): Provides intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, enhancing maritime domain awareness in the Indian Ocean Region.
