Skills Accelerator Initiative in India
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to launch a Skills Accelerator in India. This initiative joins similar efforts in six other countries.
Objective of the Skills Accelerator
- Multi-Stakeholder Platform: Aims to identify, scale, and accelerate innovative solutions and public-private partnerships.
- Addressing Skills Gaps: Focuses on lifelong learning, industry-aligned training, and large-scale reskilling.
- Current Participants: Countries like Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brazil, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Qatar are part of this initiative.

- Innovative Financing: Supports mechanisms for skilling and strategic coordination among stakeholders.
- Collaboration in Future Work Domains: Emphasis on artificial intelligence, robotics, green energy, cybersecurity, and advanced manufacturing.
Governance and Strategic Direction
A governance framework involving co-chairs from the government and private sector will be established with the WEF to set the strategic direction and oversee implementation.
