This marks BNP's return to power after being previously in government from 2001 to 2006.

  • During the previous BNP administration, Rahman’s mother, Khaleda Zia, was the Prime Minister.
  • Khaleda Zia passed away in December 2025 shortly after Rahman returned from a 17-year self-exile in the UK.

Various dignitaries attended Rahman's swearing-in ceremony, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla from India.

  • Birla conveyed a personal letter from India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • The letter included congratulations and an invitation for Rahman to visit India.
  • Birla emphasized India's dedication to strengthening the partnership between the two nations.
  • He assured India's support for Bangladesh's efforts to establish a democratic and inclusive nation.
