India’s Overall Performance (2025):

  • Global Gender Gap Index annually benchmarks the current state and evolution of gender parity across four key dimensions (sub-indexes).
A data table titled “India’s Overall Performance (2025)” summarizing India's performance across four key dimensions: Economic Participation and Opportunity Economy’s overall performance improved in absolute terms. Economic participation rose marginally by 0.9% to 40.7%. Parity in estimated earned income rose. Labour-force participation rate remains 45.9%, India’s highest level so far. Educational Attainment India scores 97.1%, indicating improvements in female literacy and tertiary education enrolment. Health and Survival Higher parity achieved due to improved sex ratio at birth and healthy life expectancy. However, life expectancy for both men and women decreased overall. Political Empowerment Slight drop in parity (-0.6 points). Female representation in parliament decreased from 14.7% to 13.8% in 2025. Share of women in ministerial roles declined from 6.5% to 5.6%. Icons accompany each category (money bag for economy, graduation cap for education, medical kit for health, and raised fists for politics).
