Termination of NSDC CEO Ved Mani Tewari

The Board of Directors of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has terminated the services of its acting Chief Executive Officer, Ved Mani Tewari, following numerous complaints.

Background and NSDC Overview

  • NSDC is an organization aimed at collaborating with industry to enhance the skills of approximately 150 million individuals.
  • It operates under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Reasons for Termination

  • Decision followed a special Board meeting held on May 15.
  • Complaints with both the Government and in High Courts by former NSDC officials and contractors.
  • Lack of a consultative process with the Ministry on key appointments in NSDC International.
  • Tewari appointed himself as a nominee Director on NSDC's Board, which was canceled on April 4.

Interim Management

Until a new CEO is appointed, a committee comprising NSDC's key managerial personnel will manage the organization. This includes the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Vice President & Company Secretary.

Official Communication

  • A notice was issued on May 16, informing the general public about the termination.
  • Subsequent internal communication with “certified extracts” of the Board meeting minutes was sent to NSDC officials.
