Defence Acquisition Approvals

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), under the leadership of Defence Minister has approved 10 major capital acquisition proposals.

  • Total Value: ₹1.05 trillion through indigenous sourcing.
  • Acceptance of Necessity (AoN): The approvals cover:
     
    • Procurement of Armoured Recovery Vehicles
  •  
    • Electronic Warfare System
  •  
    • Integrated Common Inventory Management System for the Tri-Services
  •  
    • Surface-to-Air Missiles
  •  
  • Purpose: These acquisitions aim to provide higher mobility, effective air defence, enhanced supply chain management, and improve the operational preparedness of the armed forces.

Boost to Naval Capabilities

  • Further AoNs include:
     
    • Moored Mines
  •  
    • Mine Counter Measure Vessels
  •  
    • Super Rapid Gun Mount
  •  
    • Submersible Autonomous Vessels
  •  
  • Objective: Enhancing the Navy's ability to protect naval and merchant ships, mitigating potential risks.

All approvals fall under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured) category, promoting domestic innovation and strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence production.
