Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Launch of Agriculture Schemes
Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced two significant schemes for the agriculture sector worth a total of Rs 35,440 crore to reduce import dependency and improve agricultural productivity.

- Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses
- Outlay of Rs 11,440 crore.
- Aims to boost pulses production from 252.38 lakh tonnes to 350 lakh tonnes by 2030-31.
- Focus on reducing import dependency.
- Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana
- Budget of Rs 24,000 crore.
- Targets 100 low-performing agricultural districts.
- Enhances productivity, promotes crop diversification, improves irrigation/storage, and ensures credit access.
Additional Projects and Infrastructure
- Inauguration of projects worth over Rs 5,450 crore in various sectors, including agriculture and fisheries.
- Foundation stone laid for projects valued at approximately Rs 815 crore.
- Noteworthy projects include:
- Artificial insemination training centres in Bengaluru and Jammu and Kashmir.
- Centres of excellence at Amreli and Banas.
- An IVF lab in Assam under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission.
- Milk powder plants at Mehsana, Indore, and Bhilwara.
- A fish feed plant under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana in Tezpur.
Achievements and Milestones
- Distribution of certificates to farmers under the National Mission for Natural Farming and other initiatives.
- 50 lakh farmer memberships in 10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
- Certification of 50,000 farmers and 38,000 MAITRIs.
- Operationalisation of over 10,000 multipurpose and e-PACS.
- Strengthening of PACS, dairy, and fishery cooperative societies.
During the event, Modi interacted with farmers benefiting from government schemes establishing a value chain-based approach in agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. Key ministers were present to support the occasion.
