Realignment of Curricula in Leading Science and Technology Institutes

National Institutes of Technology (NITs)

  • The 13th Council meeting emphasized aligning curricula and assessments with new technologies.
  • Initiatives include: 
    • Introduction of industry-linked postgraduate and PhD programs.
    • Implementation of effective learning strategies for students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
    • Completion of external peer reviews within a year.
    • Active involvement in the NAAC framework according to the National Education Policy, 2020.

Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs)

  • The third meeting of the IISER Standing Committee introduced the Flexible Learning Entry and Exit framework (iFLEX).
  • Key actions include: 
    • Multiple entry and exit options for students, including one-semester experiential or R&D-linked internships.
    • Establishment of research parks and incubators to merge academics, startups, and industry R&D.
    • Comprehensive review and gap analysis of PhD programs.
