Government Restrictions on Glufosinate Imports

The government announced new restrictions on the importation of glufosinate and its salts, a commonly used herbicide in agriculture. These measures are set for an initial period of six months.

Import Conditions

  • The importation of glufosinate and its salts is restricted where the combined CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) value and the applicable anti-dumping duty is calculated to be less than ₹1,154 per kilogram.
  • Certain categories of the product will require a certificate of registration from the government for import.
  • The import policy will undergo review after one year.

These restrictions are part of the measures announced by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in a recent notification.
