Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY)
The Union Cabinet has approved the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), focusing on the development of 100 agricultural districts through convergence of existing schemes with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore.
Implementation Strategy
- The scheme will integrate 36 existing schemes across 11 departments, in addition to State schemes and private sector partnerships.
- Implementation will span six years, starting from 2025-26, benefiting approximately 1.7 crore farmers.
- A master plan for each district, encompassing agriculture and allied activities, will be prepared.
Objectives and Key Indicators
- The scheme targets districts with low productivity, moderate crop intensity, and below-average credit parameters.
- Districts will be chosen based on low productivity, cropping intensity, and credit disbursement.
- Enhancement in agricultural productivity, crop diversification, irrigation, and credit availability are primary goals.
Administrative Structure
- Committees will be established at district, state, and national levels for planning and monitoring.
- Central nodal officers will facilitate field visits and reviews.
- District plans will focus on national goals like crop diversification, water and soil health conservation, and organic farming expansion.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Performance of Dhan-Dhaanya districts will be ranked.
- A portal/dashboard will track progress across 117 key performance indicators monthly.
Expected Outcomes
- Improvement in targeted district performance is expected to enhance national agricultural productivity and self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat).
- Higher productivity and value addition in agriculture and allied sectors are anticipated.
