Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY)

The Union Cabinet has approved the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), focusing on the development of 100 agricultural districts through convergence of existing schemes with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore.

Implementation Strategy

  • The scheme will integrate 36 existing schemes across 11 departments, in addition to State schemes and private sector partnerships.
  • Implementation will span six years, starting from 2025-26, benefiting approximately 1.7 crore farmers.
  • A master plan for each district, encompassing agriculture and allied activities, will be prepared.

Objectives and Key Indicators

  • The scheme targets districts with low productivity, moderate crop intensity, and below-average credit parameters.
  • Districts will be chosen based on low productivity, cropping intensity, and credit disbursement.
  • Enhancement in agricultural productivity, crop diversification, irrigation, and credit availability are primary goals.

Administrative Structure

  • Committees will be established at district, state, and national levels for planning and monitoring.
  • Central nodal officers will facilitate field visits and reviews.
  • District plans will focus on national goals like crop diversification, water and soil health conservation, and organic farming expansion.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Performance of Dhan-Dhaanya districts will be ranked.
  • A portal/dashboard will track progress across 117 key performance indicators monthly.

Expected Outcomes

  • Improvement in targeted district performance is expected to enhance national agricultural productivity and self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat).
  • Higher productivity and value addition in agriculture and allied sectors are anticipated.
