Eleventh Edition of Joint Military Exercise “Exercise MITRA SHAKTI-2025”
The eleventh edition of the joint military exercise, MITRA SHAKTI-2025, commenced on November 10, 2025, at the Foreign Training Node in Belagavi, Karnataka. It will conclude on November 23, 2025.
Participants
- The Indian contingent consists of 170 personnel, primarily from the Rajput Regiment.
- The Sri Lankan contingent comprises 135 personnel, mainly from the Gajaba Regiment.
- An additional 20 personnel from the Indian Air Force and 10 from the Sri Lankan Air Force are participating.
Objectives and Scope
- The aim is to jointly rehearse sub-conventional operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate.
- Focus on enhancing interoperability in counter-terrorist operations.
Training Curriculum
- Includes raid and search missions, heliborne operations, and search-and-destroy tasks.
- Incorporates Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR), combat reflex shooting, and yoga.
- Features the integration of drones, counter-unmanned aerial systems, and helicopters.
- Joint drills cover securing helipads and conducting casualty evacuation under operational conditions.
Expected Outcomes
- Enhance coordination between Indian and Sri Lankan military personnel in peacekeeping and counter-terror scenarios.
- Strengthen defence cooperation and foster stronger bilateral ties between India and Sri Lanka.
