Lebanon (Capital: Beirut)

India has joined 29 countries to demand protection for peacekeepers in Lebanon.

Political Features:

  • Location: It is a narrow strip of territory on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea.
  • Boundaries: It is bounded by Syria (in North and East), Israel (in the South), and Mediterranean Sea (in the West).

Geographical Features:

  • Physiography: It is divided into four distinct physiographic regions:
    • Narrow coastal plain along the Eastern Mediterranean Sea (Levant);
    • Lebanon Mountains (Jabal Lubnān);
    • Biqa (Al-Biqāʿ) valley;
    • Anti-Lebanon and Hermon ranges.
  • Major Rivers: Līṭānī, Orontes (Nahr al-ʿĀṣī), Kabīr.
  • Climate:  Mediterranean climate (winter wet and summer dry).
