White Rabbit Technology based Network has been inaugurated at the Regional Reference Standards Laboratory (RRSL), Bengaluru, under the One Nation, One Time initiative to advance India's Time Sovereignty.

- Proposed Legal Metrology (IST) Rules, 2025 mandates synchronization of all administrative, commercial, and legal activities with IST, prohibiting unauthorized time references.
IST Distribution Demonstration Project
- Nodal Agency: Legal Metrology Division, Ministry of Consumer Affairs.
- Partners: CSIR-NPL, ISRO, BSNL, and SEBI.
- Mechanism: Uses Network Time Protocol (NTP) and Precision Time Protocol (PTP) for millisecond to microsecond time synchronization.
White Rabbit Technology
- Origin: Developed by CERN (The European Organisation for Nuclear Research) for precise synchronization in particle accelerators.
- Function: An Ethernet extension that provides sub-nanosecond synchronization and deterministic real-time data transfer.
- Features: Sub-picosecond accuracy, long-distance scalability, and simultaneous data & time transfer over a single optical fiber.
- Open Source: Freely adaptable by industries and institutions.
