Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2025

It was notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and shall come into force on the 1st day of April, 2026.

  • It introduces a comprehensive Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework for Scrap of Non-Ferrous Metals (including aluminum, copper and zinc and its alloys).

About EPR for Scrap of Non-Ferrous Metals

  • Targets: Every producer shall be responsible for the recycling target structure, which progressively increases from 10% in 2026-2027 to 75% by 2032-2033.
  • Central Pollution Control Board: Shall generate an EPR certificate through the portal.
  • Validity of the EPR certificate: Shall be two years from the end of the financial year in which it was generated
