About SUMAN Roadmap 2030  

  • A national strategic framework developed by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under the RMNCHA+N framework. 
    • RMNCHA+N is an integrated life-cycle healthcare framework under the National Health Mission covering reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, along with nutrition
  • Objective: Reduce the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) to below 70 by 2030, further reduce the Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), achieve universal coverage of quality maternal and newborn healthcare services. 
    • MMR refers to the number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births during a given period. (Status-87 during 2022-24)
    • IMR refers to the number of deaths of infants under one year of age per 1,000 live births in a given year. (Status- 24)
    • NMR refers to number of deaths of infants within the first 28 days of life per 1,000 live births in a given year. (Status-18)
  • Focuses on equitable, evidence-based and person-centric maternal and newborn healthcare
  • Coverage: Proposes targeted interventions across 130 districts in 13 high-focus States—Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, etc.

  • Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA): Free, quality antenatal check-ups for pregnant women on the 9th of every month.
  • Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY): Cash incentives to support maternal nutrition and wage compensation.
  • Poshan Abhiyaan: Addresses maternal and child malnutrition through convergence and technology.

Mission Indradhanush
