About Unified Health Interface (UHI)

  • UHI is the service layer of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), an open network with common technical standards that enables patients and healthcare providers to connect across different digital platforms, without being tied to any single application.
    • ABDM was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
  • Uses ABDM building blocks: ABHA as patient identifier, Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) and Health Facility Registry (HFR) for provider verification, and Health Information Exchange for consent-based data sharing.

Other Initiatives Launched

  • Aarogya Setu 2.0: Revamped to function as a Personal Health Record (PHR) and citizen-facing digital health application. 
    • It was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic for contact tracing, risk awareness, and citizen engagement.
  • e-Sushrut Clinic:  A lightweight, affordable, cloud-based Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) for outpatient clinics that automates clinical and administrative workflows.
  • Drug Registry: Developed in collaboration with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and National Resource Centre for EHR Standards (NRCeS). 
    • Includes Generic (clinical drugs), Branded medicines, and substances.
