The 2026 Commonwealth Games, held at Glasgow, Scotland recently concluded.
- The 2030 Centenary games will be hosted by India in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, making it the first Asian nation to host them more than once (2010 games held at Delhi).
About Commonwealth Games (CWG)
- It is an international multi-sport event held every four years.
- Earlier known as the British Empire Games, they were held for the first time in Canada in 1930.
- Participation: Organised among countries that were formerly part of the British Empire - members of Commonwealth Nations along with overseas territories, island states.
- 72 Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) take part in the event.
- India made their debut in the 2nd edition in 1934.
- Featured sports: Athletics and Para Athletics, Swimming and Para Swimming, Table Tennis and Para Table Tennis, Bowls and Para Bowls, Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting, Artistic Gymnastics, Netball and Boxing.
- The host can also propose up to two new or traditional sports.
